Line-ups:

Started off as a very pleasant dry autumn evening, but midway through the first half it began to drizzle - by the end of the game it had developed into a quite heavy shower. Still, there is plenty of cover at Dunkirk so we had no worries about getting drenched.

Spent the first half in the company of Nick "Sticky Palms" Palmer, the second with our friend and regular blog reader, Referee Mr. Eddie Pidduck.  Eddie was assessing the officials. In my eyes they were superb - Mr. Hayes in the middle looked comfortable and in control from the off.

The first half was played at a frantic pace, although all the hustle and bustle provided very few clear cut chances. Dunkirk did go in at the break in front though - JARROD WESTCARR turning on the after-burners to leave his marker in his wake, before side-stepping the onrushing keeper and slotting home. H-T 1-0

Must have been a cracking half time team talk from Charlie Palmer because after the break, his charges pressed hard for the equaliser right from the restart. It took just 6 minutes for United to level. Home keeper Jake Want's poor clearance landed straight at the feet of JERMAINE HOLLIS some 35 yards from goal and the midfielder just simply fired the ball back from whence it had come, leaving the keeper stranded on the edge of his box.

It got worse for Want five minutes later when he allowed TOM COOPER-RICHARDS to get in front of him at the near post to volley home Phil Summerfield's perfect left wing cross.

LEE FELL had replaced Shaun Rickford during the break, and the tall striker grabbed the third Long Eaton goal on 61, volleying the ball home superbly through a crowded penalty area.

So, a ten minute triple for the visitors, but that was the end of the scoring, and the result lifted the Derbyshire outfit to top spot in the MFL. F-T 1-3
