According to the match programme, Hucknall last won this trophy way back in the 1991-92 season. Admittedly most of the years between then and now have been spent in higher leagues, and although I don't class myself as a die-hard fan, it was good to see this current, resurrected version of my home town team win a trophy.

Only three points separate these teams in the CMFL South Division, so it looked as if it would be, on paper anyway, a close game. It would have been a lot closer if Clifton's Craig Anderson had have stayed on the pitch a little longer than three minutes!

The midfielder had a rush of blood in the first minute, scything down Mike Banister and Ben Waplington. The odd thing about this is that Banister is Anderson's team-mate, and he just happened  to be in the way as Anderson made the two-footed challenge on Waplington, leaving both players in a heap on the deck! Even though the challenge was in the first minute, Referee Mr. Watts saw enough to issue Anderson a straight red, leaving Clifton with 10 men for the better part of 87 minutes.

The players had to endure a five minute tropical storm half way through the first period - not much to be said about the weather forecast - it mentioned only light showers and sunny intervals!!

The goals all came in the second half - the opener scored on 50 by ADAM NELSON, who rolled the ball past Owen Mason from 15 yards after Tom Maddison misjudged the flight of the ball and allowed the striker a clear run at goal.

NIALL THOMPSON headed the Yellows further ahead 12 minutes later after a far post cross was pulled back into the danger area by Cayne Maxwell. With just seconds left to play, JOHNNY HAMILTON rounded off the scoring, running onto a neat pass before slotting past Mason. F-T 3-0
